Personal Data Processing Policy
Last updated: November 5, 2026
1. Data controller
LIGO GLOBAL S.A.S., NIT 901563244-4 ("Ligo").
- Address: Cra. 5 No. 71-18, Bogotá, Colombia
- Email: info@ligoglobal.net
- Phone and WhatsApp: +57 318 840 6812
2. What data we process
- Contact data: name, WhatsApp number, email address and, if you are a business, company name and NIT (tax ID).
- Your documents and what they contain: the documents you send us for translation may include identification, academic, employment, financial, judicial or health data.
- Service data: the destination country, the application or process, how you heard about us, the agency that referred you, and your payments and invoices.
3. What we use it for
- To quote and provide the translation service you request.
- To communicate with you about your request, by WhatsApp or email, whichever you prefer.
- To invoice and meet our accounting and tax obligations.
- If you authorize us, to send a copy of your translation to the agency that referred you.
- To record which agency referred you, so we can serve you under its service commitment.
- To ask for your opinion of the service. We only publish your opinion if you authorize us, with your first name and the initial of your last name.
We do not sell your data or use it for third-party advertising.
To know how many people visit the site, we use GoatCounter, which counts visits without cookies and without storing data that identifies you.
4. Sensitive data and data of minors
Some documents contain sensitive data (for example, health data or criminal records) or data of minors (for example, a birth certificate (registro civil)). We process it only to translate it. You are not required to authorize the processing of sensitive data; without that authorization, we cannot translate the document that contains it. If the document belongs to a minor, the authorization is given by their parent or legal representative.
5. Who we share it with
To provide the service, we use providers that process data on our behalf: cloud storage and email, messaging (WhatsApp), management tools and artificial intelligence tools that support translation, electronic invoicing and payments. Some of them are located outside Colombia, so your data may be transferred to other countries, such as the United States. Translations into French, Italian and Portuguese are signed by an official translator from our network, who receives the documents only for that purpose.
If an agency referred you, that agency sees your project's status (your first name, the status, and the quote and delivery dates), and sees your translated documents only if you authorize us to send it a copy.
We also share data when a competent authority requires it.
6. How long we keep it
We keep your documents and translations for 2 years after delivery, so we can handle corrections or new copies. After that we delete them; deleted files are fully removed from our systems within 30 days. Billing data is kept for 10 years, as Colombian commercial law requires.
7. Your rights
As the data subject, you may:
- know, update and correct your data;
- request proof of the authorization you gave us;
- find out how we have used your data;
- revoke your authorization or ask us to delete your data, when there is no legal duty to keep it;
- file complaints with the Superintendence of Industry and Commerce (Superintendencia de Industria y Comercio).
8. How to exercise them
Write to us at info@ligoglobal.net with your name, your request and a way to contact you.
- Inquiries (consultas): we respond within 10 business days at most.
- Claims (reclamos) (correction, update, deletion or revocation): we respond within 15 business days at most.
If we cannot respond within that time, we will tell you why and when we will respond: within 5 more business days for inquiries and 8 for claims. If a claim is missing information, we will ask for it within 5 business days; if we do not receive it within 2 months, we will consider the claim withdrawn.
9. Authorization
By sending us your documents through the form, WhatsApp or email, and accepting this policy, you authorize us to process your data for the purposes described above, including any sensitive data and data of minors your documents contain, only to translate them. We keep proof of that authorization.
10. Effective date
This policy is effective as of November 5, 2026. If we change it, we will publish the new version on this page. Our databases are kept for as long as Ligo provides its services, subject to the retention periods in section 6.
Legal framework: Law 1581 of 2012 and Decree 1074 of 2015 (which incorporates Decree 1377 of 2013).
